ABOUT

BEVERLY GLASCOCK’S approach to art is to interact with color, form and light in a way that invites viewers into spaces where they can slow down, look closely and encounter something both intimate and expansive.

Designed to be hung on the wall or displayed on a tabletop, Glascock’s Lucite Series is created with individual layers of hand-cut glass-like lucite. After the pieces are washed with color and fused together, the surface of each unique design is refined to reflect, and interact with, the light and space in which they are presented.

Beverly Glascock holds a degree in Studio Art from Indiana University. She lives and practices in Louisville, Kentucky.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My new work explores the dynamic interaction between color, form, and light through sculptural compositions in Plexiglas. I am drawn to the transparent and reflective properties of this material, using it as a medium to capture and transform natural light. Each sculpture is designed to shift with the time of day and angle of the sun, creating a living dialogue between object and environment.

Color is often the starting point in my work—a means of evoking memory, emotion and rhythm—while sunlight is the quiet architect of my compositions. I think of sunlight as both subject and collaborator—it determines mood, reveals texture, and animates apace. In my process, I’m constantly asking how light transforms not only what we see but what we feel. When illuminated by sunlight, the Plexiglas refracts and casts vibrant shadows, allowing the sculptures to extend beyond their physical boundaries. These works become not just static forms, but immersive experiences—fragile, luminous, and ever-changing.

Through this triad—form, color, and light—I aim to create sculptures that are not static objects but active environments. They ask to be encountered slowly, physically, and emotionally—inviting the viewer into a quiet, embodied dialogue.
